My family and I faced the war in Ukraine and had to move immediately, taking just a few small bags with us. So we arrived in a strange place, alone and without any home comforts, to start our life again from zero.
Firstly, we moved to Poland. It was hard to settle there, and when it seemed to get better, I lost my job, and was not able to keep up with my rent payments. One nice family from the UK agreed to give us a shelter in the hardest time of our life. But it is now time to leave, and we are in urgent need of finding a safe and warm apartment for my family. All of this is extremely hard when you are a single mother of a 7-year old girl, and you are in an unfamiliar country with no support.
I would like to find a safe home where my daughter, my mother and I will be able to rebuild our life. I'd also like to find a stable job here in London to be able to feed my family and give my daughter a better childhood. When I had my home in Ukraine, I was safe, and I'd never had to ask for support before. But for now, I am not able to manage this by myself anymore. I feel desperate often, which is something very new for me.
With the cost of living crisis in the UK, the support I'm going to get from the community by launching my Beam campaign is essential. With it, I will be able to gather some funds for the deposit and first months' rent, giving me a bit of extra time to look for work, and not be homeless in between.
When I finally move into a new home with my family in a safe and warm place, we will be able to build our lives and feel more confident. It is the worst thing ever when you do not have a home, especially when you are responsible for your child. It's the simple things in live that are the meaning of true happiness.
