Over the last few years I've lost my confidence but I'm determined to break the cycle and learn to trust others again. Once I'm able to do that, I know that new opportunities will arise and I can start to improve my situation.
I became homeless after a breakdown in relationship with my ex partner. He was emotionally abusive to me and once we had parted ways I was unable to pay the rent on the flat we shared together. I was left homeless as well as exhausted after everything that had happened. Fortunately, I was helped into temporary accommodation where I was assigned a key-worker to support me in building my life back up again.
The first step on my journey is getting into work. A job can give us so much - financial stability, structure and purpose. I have experience working as a chef so I'd love to use some of those skills to help me find something in hospitality. In the future, once I'm a bit more stable, I'd love to study again and work for a charity supporting women who have been through the same as me. Mainly I'd like to show them that it's possible to change their circumstances and feel positive about life again.
