I am striving to become a better person. I want to be able to afford whatever I need and to look after my kids and family. It has not been an easy year because of the pandemic which has had a big financial impact on us, but we are pushing through to overcome it.
I first arrived in the UK in 2011 from Nigeria. At the moment, I stay in temporary accommodation with my three children, which is provided by the council. Now I have my papers to allow me to work I want to get a job so I can earn a stable income and look after myself. The biggest hurdle for me has just been getting that first job. I know if I can get some support to get into work then from there it will be easier.
Being a support worker is about caring for someone's wellbeing and making them feel better. I enjoy supporting people and seeing them do well. I have seen other people on Beam who have received beautiful messages from their supporters and it is really motivating me and making me excited. It is a privilege to share my story on here and receive support from kind people. When I get my first paycheck, it is my wish to donate a small part to charity so I can give back. I would am also looking forward to treating my family because they mean so much to me.
