I've worked all of my life, I never asked for help and always supported myself. I was in a fairly comfortable situation before everything changed within the space of a few months. I suffered a nasty injury, dislocating and breaking my knee cap. The pain was excruciating but that was the start of it. My recovery was extremely long and I was not able to work. Unable to work, I had no source of income and lost my home. I was forced to sleep rough. This was one of the toughest things I've ever faced. I got really low and began to think life was not worth living anymore.
With the support of Thames Reach, I was picked up from a local park and set up with temporary accommodation. This gave me the time and space to heal both physically and mentally. Now my knee has healed, I'm ready to get back into work. Unfortunately, my SIA license has run out and I'll need to updater this before moving into work.
My dream? is just to get back to where I was before. Back to work, living a normal life where I can plan holidays and being to enjoy life again.
