Hi, I’m Salah. I moved to the UK in 2016 and have been staying in temporary accommodation since being granted refugee status. I’ve been trying hard to build a stable life for my partner and me, but finding a home and work has been harder than I had imagined.
I’ve been studying in college for the last year, trying to improve my English skills and get some qualifications. Luckily, I’ve recently found a job as a carpenter which I’m so excited about. It feels great to have some independence and financial freedom back.
Finding a home has been really tough. When I started, I didn’t really know what I was looking for, let alone how to look for it. Thankfully, with Beam’s support, I’ve managed to find a place for me and my partner to call home, and I couldn’t be happier. I feel like things are finally moving in the right direction, and I can’t wait to settle in and start to build a life for myself.
