Like for most people, the COVID pandemic has been tough. Everything changed really quickly and I was left with very little. First, I lost my job and then found myself homeless after being asked to leave my home of 11 years. Thankfully, I was picked up by the council and put into temporary accommodation. If not for their help, I do not know what would have happened.
I've worked all my adult life, so being unemployed has been strange. I do not want to be in this situation again. I worked as a chauffeur for 17 years. I loved the job: the freedom, the clients you meet and the places you travel to. Unfortunately, I found out it's not a stable job in these times. I want to retrain and become a security guard which will provide me with a little more job security, pardon the pun. I'm a quick learner and adaptable to most situations so I think I will be good in this role.
I'm a very positive person and I'm so grateful for this opportunity. For me, it's about getting into a secure position with both my housing and employment situation. After this, I just want to enjoy life again once I can meet with family and friends out of lockdown.
