I have 14 years of experience working in construction back in my home country, Lithuania. I've been lucky enough to have exposure to lots of different trades so I can say with certainty that it's an area that I really enjoy. The only thing stopping me working right now is not having the right qualifications. Once I've got these, I'll feel unstoppable!
I came to UK in 2018 and I was able to find some work when I arrived. It wasn't permanent though and I ended up being let go. I made my way to London on the promise of work, but when I arrived it came to nothing. I slept rough as I had no other option and nobody I could stay with. Eventually I was supported into a hostel by the Single Homeless Project and started to get help.
My world changed again when my partner and I had a baby. We were helped by the council to move into a flat. My main motivation to get into work is giving my partner and daughter a better quality of life. We're surviving on benefits at the moment but I want to provide my family with everything they need and for us to feel like we're not struggling any longer.
