Hello, I'm Ruth. I've been living in temporary accommodation with my 14-year-old son for the past year. As an asylum seeker, life has been a rollercoaster of emotions and challenges. My physical health has been affected by my diet and environment, leading to a pre-diabetic diagnosis, high cholesterol, and low iron levels. But despite these hurdles, I've managed to keep my spirits high and look after my mental wellbeing. I've been volunteering with the NHS and Brent Carer Centre as admin support, which has been a great experience, but I'm eager to find stable employment.
Seeing others happy and being able to support those who can't do it themselves brings me immense joy. I've always been passionate about work, it keeps my mind occupied and I love the learning process that comes with it. I have a PGD degree in social work and have worked as a bank account officer and in customer service. I'm currently applying for various roles and am keen to work 16 - 30 hours per week. However, to start my job, I need a laptop, internet and travel expenses.
With Beam, I hope to achieve my goal of finding a job that gives me the satisfaction I desire.
