I was struggling due to troubles in my personal life, mental ill-health and from losing my job. I couldn’t keep sofa surfing and had to find a temporary place to stay in. However, this was so unsuitable I could barely live there. The house was infested with mice and bed bugs. It was filled with clutter due to a careless landlord, but this is all I could afford at the time. I just wanted somewhere I could call my home. It is one of the most stressful times I’ve ever experienced.
Not having a home affects everything in your life. The stress was unmanageable at times. I would have breakdowns and feel hopeless daily. It feels so amazing to know that places like Beam exist. I would not have been able to get through this time and come out the other side better and stronger if it wasn't for Beam and the amazing donors.
I will feel total contentment when I move into my home. I want my life to look like how I’ve always planned: healthy, full of beautiful memories, and able to overcome any struggle.
