Like many young people, I went to university hoping for the best but after something awful happened I had to leave my course and return home. I couldn’t afford a deposit and no one was able to house me, so I spent the next 6 years sleeping on different sofas and going back and forth to collect belongings. My outlook became increasingly bleak. I began to struggle with depression and anaemia, the latter of which led to brief hospitalisation.
Things changed when one day I sat down to really think about what to do next. After completing some online research, I settled on becoming an accountant; I’d always been great at working with numbers and enjoy logical puzzle solving.
With a clear plan in mind, I knew I needed a room and after some work found a young person’s hostel I could self-refer into. The result? I’m now living in the hostel and nearly at the end of my level 2 accounting qualification. The course has gone so well and the teacher tells me I’m the top student in the class. Now I need your help to get my level 3 and turn my training into full-time work and an income!
