I’m a very positive person and seeing the upside in difficult situations is what I do best. I currently work part time as a cleaner in a busy London station. I love seeing the chaos of London go by everyday and watching people go about their days. I have to be resilient and prepared to go outside of my role which is why being a security guard appeals to me! I can only get part time work at the moment so training in security will mean I'll have the right skills to find full time and permanent work in a career I'd like to progress in.
Last year I had to move into temporary accommodation when I had a baby as there wasn't enough space where I was staying. When my son was born, we were living in just one room. Unfortunately there wasn't any appropriate temporary accommodation available in the area I was living and so we had to move away. At the time, it was a struggle to deal with a new born baby and be uprooted from the place where I had a support network. Now that my son is almost 2 and things are a bit more settled, I’m starting to get my confidence back and thinking about what our future might look like.
At the moment I’m on benefits as my wage isn’t enough for me to provide for us. My goal is to get into a place of my own and be able to come off benefits in the next few years. I don't like having to rely on this help I'm getting and so for me, training as a security guard is the start of a more independent chapter in my life.
