Jason's campaign has fully funded! 🎉 A Beam employee is now supporting him on his journey through training and into work as an IT technician.
But other Beam members need your help. Support the greatest number of homeless people to train up and get into work by giving monthly.
I have just completed my last lesson in my final module - Microsoft Office 365.
I now will be studying more on all of my topics to be ready for my exams.
I have also had my C.V sent off by my training centre to a well known IT company. I'll hopefully start a 12 week work experience which can very well lead to full-time employment!
I've just completed the second part of my course, learning to install and configure Windows Server 2012.
I'm now doing some more studying and revising and will start the third part of my course - Microsoft office 365 - in October!
I have just completed my Windows 10 installation and configuration part of my course. 🔧🖥️
I will now be studying in my 2 week gap and then starting the Windows server part of my course at the end of the month!
🎉I've just had my 2 day induction on my IT technician course and went brilliantly!
Its a lot harder than I anticipated but I have been given a lot of revision/homework to do from home so I will be fully prepared for when I start my windows 10 installation and configuration part of the course next Saturday! 📚
I check in once a week to have a look at my campaign. Once it got to £2000 it just shot up! I felt so surprised and excited to see the progress - it’s nearly there.
I start training tomorrow! So far the laptop, travel and the deposit on the course have been paid for. It’s a 9am start - I’m going to leave extra early. The last thing I want to do is be late on the first day!
It’s an induction session tomorrow. I saw a picture and it doesn’t look like a big classroom. Maybe about 20 people?
I’m not nervous yet. I don’t think it will hit me until tomorrow. I just so want to get this done, the nerves have gone!
I’m really looking forward to the parts which are hands on, building the computers. I can’t wait to meeting other people on the course and someone not in recovery - a change of scenery will be great!
I’m amazed at how efficient it has been. You see it on the computer and you don’t really realise it’s actual money being raised until the training begins! I feel a bit of pressure now, not to mess up. It gives me drive to do it knowing there are people supporting me through this.
I have told a lot of people about this. My mum saw Beam on the BBC! She thinks it is fantastic. One of my friends is going through treatment now - I have told him to contact Beam and get involved when he’s ready.
There was one message last week - it was so long and the supporter encouraged me to overcome my shyness. Lots of people were saying they worked in IT and were telling me it’s a really good thing to get into, which was really motivating.
Thank you for making this happen. It’s like a dream come true. It’s surreal.
I'm happy my campaign has gone live and I can't wait for my course to be funded. The future is looking millions of times better than it was. A normal, positive future with a stable career and a job that I enjoy doing! Thank you to everyone who will support me and believes in me. I've also got my first ever driving lesson tomorrow - wish me luck!

Too often homeless people are forced to lie out of sheer desperation. We think it's better when relationships are built on trust and honesty. Beam verifies each member in 4 ways:
1. Referral: every member of Beam is referred by a registered homelessness charity or local authority.
2. Interviews: before their campaign launches, each member is interviewed twice by a Beam Member Manager.
3. References: we take references on each member from the charity who refers them and someone in a position of responsibility.
4. Profile: we take great care to verify information in a member's story is true.
It's your money.
We work hard to ensure that you can give confidently.
A caseworker or "Member Manager" is an employee of Beam who helps those referred to Beam to plan a crowdfunding campaign and supports them through training and into work.
All Member Managers are trained professionals who specialise in supporting vulnerable adults by focusing on their strengths and abilities.
