I believe everyone is equal, I don't think we should be categorised and put into small boxes or labelled. What do these labels really mean? The most important thing is we're all human! We should treat each other with an equal level of dignity, while still recognising people as individuals and respecting their personal qualities.
A big moment in my life happened one night when I encountered a man on the street who was injured. He couldn't make it home so I spent time helping him up to his feet and then the rest of the way home. During this time he opened up to me about his unhealthy relationship with alcohol and we spent the rest of the night discussing his struggles. This evening stayed with me but thankfully also made an impact on him, he's now sober and we’ve become good friends. I now lean on him in times of need and he supports me when I need it.
I’ve recently found myself in a tough situation. COVID has left me without work and a settled home. If I'm lucky I can stay at a friend's house for a night or two, if not, I'm left to take my chances in unsafe hostels or sleep rough. I just want to get back into work as soon as possible, so I can get myself out of this situation and save enough money to pay for my mother’s funeral. This is all I am focused on at the moment. Once I can do this, I will start thinking about myself.
I'm a very active person and have a passion for long walks, especially right now in a beautiful city like London as there are barely any people on the streets. Finding a job which keeps me active is key for my mental and physical well-being. I’ve always been good with pipe works and plumbing works in general. I’ve worked in construction before and feel gaining the qualifications needed will allow me to use these skills and make a career for myself.
