Knowing that I have the opportunity to be able to provide for my family makes me happy. Things have been difficult over the last few months but I'm determined to be proactive and I'm not ashamed to ask for help.
My background is in engineering and project management so looking for work in these areas would be ideal. I know the job market isn't the same as it was a few months ago though. With this in mind, I would be happy to get into any job where I can offer my skill set as well as improve my financial situation.
I recently became homeless when my daughter and I had to leave our previous accommodation. There was a breakdown in relationship between people we were sharing a house with and we had no choice but to leave. We approached the council and were put into temporary accommodation straight away. We were given shelter but it came at a cost. Our new location meant that I had to give up my job as inventory controller in West London as I couldn't manage the commute along with the school run and caring responsibilities for my daughter.
My goal is to move on from temporary accommodation and earn enough for us to live comfortably. COVID-19 has made it harder to put an action plan in place but equally, I know that many companies are changing their operations due to the pandemic and there is an opportunity to help. In a few years time, I'd like to be in steady work and not have to worry about our living situation. I've had a set back but I know good things are coming!
