That’s me, looking very impressive in full ceremonial uniform. If you passed by Buckingham Palace to watch the Trooping the Colour in the early 90s you might even have spotted me! I followed my dad into the army and became part of the Blues and Royals, the mounted regiment of the Household Cavalry.
I kept working with horses after I left the army. I moved to the USA and got a job transporting racehorses to the track. This then led me into trucking. I stayed on in America, gained a green card, had kids, bought a house, and ran a successful business. Then disaster struck - unexpected issues with my immigration papers set off a chain of events which led me to lose everything. I eventually landed back in the UK after 18 years away, with nothing but the clothes on my back.
Because of my service I was directed to Veterans Aid. Thanks to this fantastic organisation, I have a roof over my head and have been fully supported in my journey back to work. Now, together with Beam, they're helping me tackle the final step - getting the right UK driving licences. I have a 'never say never' attitude. I'm putting this part of my life down to experience and moving onto better things. With your help, I'll soon be on the road to success once more.
