JUST SAYIN' at the Camden Fringe X BEAM

Story

Just Sayin' is a newly-written one-woman show all about an Italian girl who moves to Barcelona for work; between working in the lab, making friends and trying (largely without success) to find a satisfactory boyfriend, she's largely untouched by the issue of homelessness: like many busy people who have never had to worry about stable housing or employment, she prefers not to think about it - until she starts volunteering for a local homelessness charity for all the wrong reasons, and surprises herself by becoming more and more invested in helping the people living precariously and sleeping rough in her new city. When an unlikely friendship moves her to become an informal caseworker, she takes on the challenge of putting her friend's life back on track.

Our show emerged from the Brighton Fringe as runner up in FUSE International's 'Best Theatre Play' category out of over two hundred contenders, and we're now headed to The Hope Theatre for a three-night run at Camden Fringe. The work BEAM do treats homeless people, and people at risk of homelessness, with dignity; each campaign focusses on one person - their life as it is, and all the steps necessary to help get them into fulfilling work that will help them maintain long-term security and stability long after the campaign is over. Our hope is that the money we raise for BEAM before the end of our run may help at least one person off the streets and into stable work and housing - help us get there!
